request an appointmentWhat is Bellafill?
Bellafill refers to an FDA-approved dermal filler used to treat deep smile lines and acne scars. The product itself is made with a combination of bovine collagen and polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) microspheres.
As a pioneer of Bellafill for cosmetic use in the United States, Dr. Hamilton injects the Bellafill directly into the treatment area. The microspheres contained within the product create a thin layer that acts as a foundation for the smooth skin and generate more collagen.
When should I consider Bellafill treatment?
Dr. Hamilton recommends that you start thinking about Bellafill treatment if you experience any of the following:
- Smile lines you want to get rid of
- Deep acne scars on your cheeks
- Atrophic acne
Dr. Hamilton might also recommend Bellafill injections if you’re looking for a durable cheek filler.
Before recommending these injections, Dr. Hamilton makes sure that you have no allergies to its ingredients and evaluates your overall health and medical history.
When will I see results from Bellafill?*
You should start noticing some of the results of Bellafill almost immediately. The first effect is the smoothening out of the skin due to the microspheres stimulating your collagen production.
Immediately after the procedure, you might notice some swelling in the injection site. This can last for up to two weeks. You might not notice the full scope of the results because of the swelling. If the swelling doesn’t go down after two weeks, get in touch with Dr. Hamilton.
Once the swelling recedes, you’ll notice a return of your volume deficit. Don’t worry, this is temporary. Remember, your skin needs time to restore its collagen production properly. You should notice serious results within six months of the procedure.
What are the risks of Bellafill?
Dr. Hamilton has years of experiencing leading the evolution of Bellafill treatments in the United States, so you can be sure that he never goes through with the injections if the risks outweigh the benefits.
The main risk is an allergic reaction to the collagen. Dr. Hamilton performs a thorough allergy test to make sure you won’t have an adverse reaction. Sometimes, this test can take up to 30 days to show conclusive results.
Other side effects include:
- Redness
- Swelling
- Pain
- Itching
In rare cases, you might notice lumps under the skin. If this is the case, get in touch with Dr. Hamilton immediately.
